Hello Everyone,
On 12/11/2010 a few of us competed in the Zanesville Four Seasons Tournament. We had a wonderful and had Mr. Schaffer there to coach us when he wasnt judging. It was a wonderful experience and cant wait to compete in other tournaments.

I was really inspired by Andy. He motivated me to push through. He received 1st place in a few categories: Breaking and Forms. He also received two medals, which one was for due to the modifications in his techniques he never gave up and continued to strive for excellance. He was very encouraging for many us.

Report on a Great Seminar and Test in Frankfurt, Germany.

Friday 5 hour seminar from 3:30-9pm was a great success. We had over 120 children under 12 and 29 black belts. Children class was focused more on Mooshim, Innae, Geukki, Jajeh and Daemahng forms, target drills and free sparring. The children were very excited to have a special class with me, the Sr. Grand Master, and visiting instructors Mr. Moohyun and Ms. Jee Young Choi. Their eyes were shining like bright stars with joy and excitement. The uniform autograph session for over 120 kids were a big event by itself.

Summer Camp: Thanks to All!

Hi from Lauren and Alan Atwood. We, both white belts, attended our first Summer Camp. We both experienced many emotions, made many new friends, and were humbled by the love and support we received from everyone regardless of their experience level. I am speechless about receiving the Martial Arts Spirit Award! I thank everyone who was involved with recognizing me. I especially thank my daughter Lauren, age 13, for she was the one who wanted me to take her to classes and support her efforts at OMAC; and Mr. Shaffer, our primary teacher, for allowing me to take my first classes for free.

Living to 100

In this day and age, it is not at all unlikely to live past 100 years. The oldest person in the world lived to 122 years! We can all expect to be centenarians one day, and possibly even supercentenarians.

Many scientists view aging as a disease, one that doesn't need to happen. As they come to understand the cumulative effects of the genes that cause our cellular ageing, growing old may one day not be necessary. Unfortunately, until then, we are all faced with the slow senescence of our cells and bodies – the gradual accumulation of changes that draw us finally toward death.

Learn the Basics and Always Be Prepared to Learn More Basics

I heard an interesting story today that really highlights the importance of the basics and of remembering that we can all always learn something.

An American student of Chinese martial arts (a black belt, actually) along with his master were given an opportunity to meet with a Shaolin warrior-monk. The black belt was extremely excited at the opportunity, because he knew of the "mystic" powers of the Shaolin.

"Master, please tell the monk that I wish to learn the secrets of the Shaolin," he implored.

Grandmaster Joon Pyo Choi Biography: The History of Korean Martial Arts

Every life form has a skill of self-defense to survive. When life is born, it lives. And to live, it must survive. And to survive it must have a method of self-defense.

The methods of self-defense differ from creature to creature. A tiger, a lion, a monkey, and a cheetah all have their own way of fighting. The higher the level of the animal, the more complex its way of fighting and self-defense.
